Book Signups

A common trend in the writing community on skinseed was a thing called "Book sign ups" where a person would post a skin asking people to sign up for a book they were writing, and the users who signed up would get to be characters in the book. Sometimes the author would only use the person's name/image, and sometimes the people signing up would be asked to subit a character sheet to go off of. The way these were done could vary, with the in-story character being a full insert of the actual user who signed up, while some would be one of that person's OCs, or Original Characters. The ladder was more common with authors requiring character sheets, though in most cases the people signing up could choose. It was also common for the authors of book signups to not finish the book/story, or only abandon it a couple chapters/parts in. This trend dates as far back as 2016, and has been seen as recently as 2021.
